Program
Third event in the Lessons from the 2012 Earthquake series organized by MADLab-ER. The initiative, launched within the Emilia-Romagna Reconstruction Agency, with the participation of the Region’s universities and the Superintendencies, aims to recount the experience of the 2012 Emilia earthquake as a “lesson to be learned” across the various aspects involved.
In Bologna, on March 4, 2026, an international conference entitled “Management: After the Earthquake, and Preparing for the Next | Post-Earthquake Management: From Emergency Response to Future Preparedness” will take place.
The study day is curated by Marco Pretelli, Leila Signorelli, and Andrea Ugolini (Department of Architecture – University of Bologna) in collaboration with the Regional Reconstruction Agency. Following the opening remarks, the day will begin with a keynote lecture by Mizuko Ugo (Gakushuin Women’s College). The program will continue with invited speakers sharing their experiences in emergency management and restoration, from the Mediterranean basin to Nepal and Latin America. The event can also be followed via live streaming through the link provided on the poster.
The initiative has been officially endorsed by SIRA – the Italian Society for the Restoration of Architecture.
