The Research Unit develops its activities in the fields of study, applied research and training in architectural and urban design, with a particular focus on compositional processes, the relationship between architecture, context and landscape, and contemporary transformations of the built environment. The Research Unit includes permanent staff, contract staff, PhD students and collaborators within the CEAR-09 macro-group who, through participation in competitive projects, develop - using an interdisciplinary approach - various lines of research capable of implementing design as a critical tool for interpreting and transforming places. The activity of the group focuses on topics of architectural design at multiple scales, ranging from landscape transformations to urban transformations, from the quality of public space to the integration of architecture and the environment. Publications, international seminars, and scientific collaborations contribute to strengthening a field of investigation dedicated to architectural design and the transformations of cities and the contemporary landscape.
