The seminar "Atlases and Twins: Knowing and Governing the City with Digital Tools," to be held on November 6, 2026, at the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna (Ex-Pam Room, Via Saragozza 8), aims to explore—from an interdisciplinary perspective—recent studies on the creation and implementation of digital atlases and digital twins. It brings together speakers who will share their insights on the relationship between knowledge and territorial governance—the latter understood not merely as a political and administrative framework, but also in terms of the practice of urban governance. The seminar will be structured into three main sessions. The first part will present experimental case studies of digital urban models developed in Italy. The remaining two sessions will feature theoretical discussions addressing the complex interplay between cities, digitalization, media, and digital technologies from various perspectives—including information systems, urban governance, and socio-economic, aesthetic, architectural, and design viewpoints.
