In order to maintain a leadership role in the international context and remain anchored to the vocations that characterize the Emilia-Romagna region, the ECOSISTER project aims to support the ecological transition of the regional economic and social system through a process that involves all sectors, technologies, and skills in a cross-cutting manner. It seeks to combine digital transition and sustainability with people’s work and well-being and environmental protection, in line with the goals of the Pact for Work and Climate, and in coordination with regional, national, and European programming.
The activities of Spoke 4 focus on applied research and technology transfer related to services and physical and digital infrastructures for sustainable mobility, as well as sustainable and innovative building and energy solutions for a carbon-neutral society.
The preferred scope is the urban scale of medium and small-sized cities, with particular attention to soft mobility as a modal choice for home-work commuting, the rational management of roads and public spaces through new tools to promote inclusive infrastructural systems that ensure full accessibility for all, the enhancement of cultural heritage, social housing, engineering solutions oriented toward well-being, indoor and outdoor air quality, energy efficiency, climate neutrality, and the valorization of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
In line with its Research and Innovation objectives, Spoke 4 of ECOSISTER gathers the interest of companies aiming to improve their innovation capacity and competitiveness in the fields of services and physical and digital infrastructures for sustainable mobility, and sustainable and innovative building and energy solutions for a carbon-neutral society.
In particular, following the logic of innovation ecosystems, the Research and Innovation themes of Spoke 4 are designed to support the development of innovative solutions through collaborations between companies and with research organizations, including engagement with Public Administrations as potential recipients of research outputs.
Given the goal of generating tangible industrial and entrepreneurial impacts, the topics (and resulting projects) may combine aspects of technological research and innovation with activities aimed at supporting the definition of innovation strategies.
