G124 is the code that identifies a room in Palazzo Giustiniani at the Senate of the Republic, assigned to architect and life senator Renzo Piano. Following this prestigious appointment, Piano donates his salary to young graduates. The projects developed by G124 Renzo Piano focus on the "repair" of Italian suburbs through small, participatory initiatives. The areas of intervention are those parts of the city where urban planning has failed, where the relationship between services and residents has broken down or never existed, and where spaces intended for social interaction have over time been filled with marginalization and neglect. For 2020, the University of Bologna was chosen to coordinate one of the three project activities identified by the Senator, alongside the University of Padua and the University of Palermo.
