Project code: TSS2018A_514-CATITA_A
ProgrammE: Climate KIC Catapult programme 2018
Call: Climate KIC Catapult programme 2018
Developed under the umbrella of the Urban Transition Theme and financed by EIT under the Climate KIC Catapult programme, the project is focused on defining effective solutions in the framework of the Resilient Corridor to be developed from the Bologna city centre moving towards the northeast, culminating in the Pilastro neighbourhood, a densely populated residential complex. Largely developed under the social housing umbrella with limited community services and commercial activities, the neighbourhood has been the focus of several renovation initiatives. Among them, the City of Bologna has planned some investments to promote economic growth and sustainable regeneration benefiting from the site’s proximity to CAAB and FICO pole of excellence in the agro-food sectors.
The project follows the typical Climate KIC research environment mixing academic research methodology with market-oriented solutions. The main outcome of the programme is the organisation of an international summer school involving both PhDs and professionals from cross-related disciplines and creating tailored solutions within the proposed real-life city challenges. During the programme, participants applied collaborative, multi-perspective, cross-disciplinary approaches to design unconventional and creative ideas and solutions, to boost effective actions in the urban setting closely cooperating with international experts, researchers of the University of Bologna, municipality and district representatives, local stakeholders and citizen associations.
