GRETA FINAL POLICY WEBINAR

Energy Citizenship Contracts – a new policy tool for inclusive energy transition

How can we empower European citizens in the energy transition, ensure inclusivity, and foster public awareness and trust? GRETA’s final policy webinar introduces an innovative policy tool called Energy Citizenship Contracts (ECCs) to address these questions.

Inspired by the Cities Mission Climate City Contracts, GRETA’s ECC toolkit facilitates transparent communication between citizens, policymakers and further stakeholders. It helps to establish a strong foundation for achieving equitable and sustainable energy transition goals and simultaneously, to ensure consistency and reliability for energy citizenship communities. ECCs serve as an innovative instrument to help policymakers understand and address citizens’ needs within their organizational context and available political resources.

In addition to an introduction to some of GRETA’s final policy results and actionable insights that help promote the energy transition through energy citizenship in the European Union, our sibling projects EC², ENCLUDE, EnergyPROSPECTS, DIALOGUES,  TRANSFORMER and SSH Centre will respond to GRETA’s main findings and present selected key insights.

GRETA is an EU Horizon2020 funded project that aims to foster energy citizenship emergence by enhancing awareness and removing policy barriers within the European Union. Its primary objective is to comprehensively investigate the conditions and challenges associated with energy citizenship to derive policy recommendations and policy tools to implement a just and green energy transition, ensuring inclusivity for all.
