CoVHer - European Architectural Cultural Heritage is immense. Yet part of this Heritage is invisible: churches, synagogues, mosques that have either been destroyed or never been built. Now the digital revolution offers possibility to bring these artefacts to a new life, through 3D reconstruction. A new way of studying and representing the past has become increasingly important in the academic world and in the domain of digital entertainment (such as films and video games). This new way makes use of the so-called “virtual 3D reconstructions”, that is 3D models based on figurative and textual sources of artefacts that no longer exist or have never been built.

CoVHer - Il patrimonio culturale architettonico europeo è immenso. Eppure una parte di questo Patrimonio è invisibile: chiese, sinagoghe, moschee che sono state distrutte o mai costruite. Ora la rivoluzione digitale offre la possibilità di portare questi manufatti a nuova vita, attraverso la ricostruzione 3D. Un nuovo modo di studiare e rappresentare il passato è diventato sempre più importante nel mondo accademico e nel dominio dell'intrattenimento digitale (come film e videogiochi). Questa nuova modalità si avvale delle cosiddette “ricostruzioni 3D virtuali”, ovvero modelli 3D basati su fonti figurative e testuali di manufatti non più esistenti o mai realizzati.
