"Timeline Travel: An Alternative Tool for Architectural History Learning and Teaching” is a project funded by the 2017 Erasmus+ KA203 Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education, Centre for European Union Education and Youth Programmes (Turkish National Agency). The project is coordinated by Gaziantep University (Turkey) and its partners are: University di Bologna (Italy), Akademia Humanistyczno-Ekonomiczna w Łodzi (Poland) and Yeditepe University (Turkey), and other associated partners. The project started on 1 September 2017 and ended on 31 August 2019.
The main objective of this project is to create an alternative architectural history teaching and learning tool that would trigger visual cognition with the help of a timeline and a map. Accessible through a web page, this tool will be designed so that it could be used both as a self-study tool (e-learning platform) and as a learning/teaching/research companion. As the students – and teachers – save time learning architectural history, they will have the opportunity and ability to establish connections with the architectural works and political, social, economic and cultural developments since the buildings reflect evolving constraints of their time with different styles, scales and types. The second objective of this project is to create cultural and historical awareness among the citizens of Europe through the architectural histories of their cities and countries. By making this tool available and easy t use for a broader audience, the project aims to reach almost everyone through the project website, and its ambition is to become a global tool for learning and exploring architectural histories.
