Quality of research and teaching
The Quality Assurance management system consists of four interrelated processes: planning, management, self-assessment, improvement.
Research Quality
The approach dictated by the Quality Assurance Presidium is characterised by the introduction of quality principles at departmental level: transparency, information sharing, verification of results with indicators or documentary evidence. The Presidium promotes self-assessment by offering support to the Departments so that they can define improvement goals according to their own specific characteristics and in line with the objectives of the University Strategic Plan.
Single Annual Assessment Form on Departmental Research (SUA-RD)
The annual assessment form on Departmental research (SUA-RD) is compiled by the department. During the annual review meeting, the department analyses qualitative and quantitative information on objectives, departmental quality policies, third mission initiatives and public engagement. The SUA-RD is also used for the purposes of periodic evaluation and accreditation conducted by ANVUR (Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes).
The continuous improvement cycle of the SUA-RD
Planning
- Definition of objectives in line with the University's strategic plan and with monitoring indicators (SUA-RD Framework A1)
- Third Mission Strategy: The department's main lines of approach consistent with its specific characteristics (SUA-RD Framework I0)
Management
- Organisation of the Department (see page Organisation)
- Research Groups (see page Research Groups)
- Research QA management system: Tasks and responsibilities for conducting the review, criteria for allocation of resources. (SUA-RD Framework B2)
Assessment
- Analysis of monitoring results: In-depth self-evaluation and verification of progress (SUA-RD Framework B3 Review)
Improvement
- Definition and areas for improvement: Formulation of areas of intervention identified through the self-evaluation (SUA-RD Review Framework B3)
Teaching Quality
The quality of teaching represents the ability to provide adequate responses to the expectations of all those who have an interest in the educational service offered: students, families and the world of work.
In concrete terms, at University level but also at Departmental level, it is a question of putting in place objectives, tools, actions and verifications, through which a quality policy is implemented in order to constantly improve the educational offer.
