Model and Prototype Laboratory

3Dmodels and prototypes, including interactive ones, and project components.

The Models and Prototypes Laboratory is a facility equipped for creating physical models and prototypes for design and architecture studies.

The official website of the Laboratory is https://site.unibo.it/damakerslab/it.

The purpose of the laboratory is to combine traditional craftsmanship with the latest prototyping technologies: while advanced techniques are valuable, they are not always sufficient to address the complex realities in which designers must operate.

Within the field of research, the laboratory's activities develop – within the operational parameters and limitations of prototyping machines – in relation to various types of projects, the required level of descriptive detail, transformation processes, software transfer, and drawing file formats.

MATERIALS

The laboratories do not provide the purchase or storage of materials for model construction. Students are responsible for purchasing the materials most suitable for their project. They may consult with instructors and the Technical Manager regarding the choice of materials.

Recycling and reuse: In agreement with the laboratory's Technical Surpervisor, waste materials produced during processing may be set aside and made available for other students. The Technical Supervisor will assess the potential reuse of certain electronic components.

Access mode

To reserve the use of the spaces, please contact Luca Barbieri via email at luca.barbieri17@unibo.it .

Safety

To access all laboratory spaces, the minimum required safety level is the completion of Module 1 and Module 2, which can be taken online (valid for 5 years).
