Environmental Regeneration and Mending the Suburbs

Since 2012 Matteo Agnoletto has been the coordinator of the “Emilia Research" lab, set up by the Department of Architecture following the earthquake. The research group is committed to studying the rural territory and practices for environmentally conscious regeneration. Among other initiatives, he organised the photographic exhibition Giovanni Chiaramonte. Lost interior presented at the University of Potsdam, the Festival of Philosophy in Modena, the FAI national headquarters in Milan, the Faculty of Architecture in Cesena, the Rocca di Vignola and the Hochschule in Munich. He also curated the exhibition Po Valley architectures dedicated to the territories affected by the earthquake. The "Emilia Research" lab has developed a series of studies on the rural heritage of the municipality of Cavezzo, the design of the San Biagio parish area and the Museum of Agriculture in Gavello. 

In 2020 he was named scientific head of the G124, a working group chaired by Senator for Life Renzo Piano to work on "mending the suburbs". The two operational units – "Emilia Research" lab and G124 – carry out coordinated activities in the territories of the Emilia-Romagna region.
