BENEDICT

BIM-enabled Learning Environment for Digital Construction

Project code: 2020-1-EE01-KA203-077993

Programme: Erasmus+ - Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices

Call: Call 2020 Round 1 KA2 - Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices - KA203 - Strategic Partnerships for higher education

Building Information Modelling (BIM) refers to the development of digital models of buildings and construction operations. This project is aimed at leveraging the emerging possibilities of BIM to improve the education of Real Estate and Construction (REC) sector professionals by developing an innovative, BIM-enabled Learning Environment that offers more realistic, immersive and integrated learning experiences.

The BENEDICT project has the following objectives:

  • Specify the requirements for a common, openly accessible and flexible BIM-enabled Learning Environment
  • Develop a prototype BIM-enabled Learning Environment
  • Create basic, generic content (learning resources) for the BLE
  • Develop, test, implement and evaluate a series of innovative course modules that apply BIM-enabled learning using the BLE
  • Develop guidelines and a handbook to enable the use of the BLE for BIM-enabled learning
  • Provide training and instruction to stakeholders on the use of the BLE
  • To achieve these goals, the following Intellectual Outputs will be delivered:

O1 - Specification of the BIM-enabled Learning Environment (BLE)

O2 - BIM-enabled Learning Environment (BLE)

O3 - Open Learning Resources

O4 - Pilot Modules

O5 - User Guidance Materials

O6 - System for Sector-Wide BLE

These Intellectual Outputs will be demonstrated, tested and validated at three Multiplier Events. The project will culminate in an intensive training event to train a core group of users to develop their own content for the BLE and to develop and expand the BLE itself throughout the REC sector.
